Who we are

Investigative judgment, applied to private decisions.

Fortaris was founded to bring senior investigative judgment to the corporate, legal, and family-office matters where the cost of being wrong is highest. Our leadership is drawn from senior service at the DHS Office of Inspector General, US Treasury, INS / Border Patrol, and state attorney offices, alongside corporate VP-level security leadership and a Certified Fraud Examiner credentialed under the ACFE four-domain standard.

By the strength of that team, Fortaris sits in the specialist tier of the corporate-intelligence market — the firms that compete on senior teams with federal investigative backgrounds and discreet engagements, rather than on scale or on price. We are independent of the audit and consulting conflicts that constrain the global names, and we hold our work to evidentiary standards from the outset.

We also occupy ground few US firms claim: independent verification and cross-border due diligence for foreign investors, international counsel, and offshore counterparties evaluating American companies, executives, and partners. It is the flagship of our practice.

What we stand on

Four principles, held without exception.

Independent.
Privately held and free of the conflicts that bind global accounting and consulting parents. We routinely take work the Big-4 alternatives cannot accept, and we never structure engagements around firm-wide cross-sell.
Partner-led.
Senior oversight, from a leadership team whose combined backgrounds span federal investigations, corporate security, and financial forensics.
Built for evidentiary standards.
Our outputs are designed to be defensible — usable in audit-committee briefings, regulatory filings, and litigation if a matter escalates.
Discreet by mandate.
We do not publish client names or publicize matter wins, and we structure engagement letters around confidentiality. The vast majority of our work is never disclosed.
